I understand that a company sells a legal conversion for an AR-15 Assault Rifle from Semi-Auto to Full Automatic, is this true and who makes it?

Yes, it is true that a company called Slide Fire (see Link below) called the SSAR-15 makes a stock conversion for a Standard AR-15 Mil Spec designed rifle. The conversion applies a principal that allows the stock to Bump Fire thus converting a standard semi auto legally issued assault style rifle to full auto. The ATF and Justice Dept in the USA have issued a letter that comes with the conversion kit stating the Bump Fire stock is legal to own and use. Sure Fire is 100 percent American Made.
The Youtube Video below shows how to install the device on an AR15 with a test fire in the full auto position.

My opinion and comments: I considered purchasing one of these for my DPMS AR-15, 223/5.56 M4 Style Carbine but decided against it. After consulting with several people this device over a period of time puts stress on the buffer tube and spring. On some rifles it also causes needed repair to the trigger and bolt assemblies. If I were to do this I would purchase one for my AK47 which are built more sturdy with heavier metal and can take the pounding.
Important: Before purchasing the Slide Fire bump fire stock conversion make sure it will fit on your weapon. Either contact the manufacturer of the rifle, example: DPMS; or call Slide Fire.
Cost: Ranges from $270.00 to $360.00 US Dollars for the AR15 conversion kit.
