Firearm Forum Question: Test Firing the Springfield TRP 45 ACP with Bull Barrel Semi Automatic Handgun

Ask A Firearms Question:
Could you do a subject on the Newer Models of the Springfield Model 1911 Handgun and there capabilities.
Thank you Mr. Stiffy.

Presented by: The Firearms Guy
.... I had the opportunity to Test Fire the Springfield TRP 45acp with Bull Barrel, Semiautomatic Handgun.
Springfield was offering Gun Owners at my Indoor Range the chance to Test Fire this handgun.

The Springfield Model 1911 TRP from Springfield's Website:

This is a variation to the standard Model 1911 in 45 ACP caliber. TRP means Tactical Response Pistol.
I elected to Test Fire this weapon myself and post it here.
I have included my opinion of this handgun after firing it, and a Youtube Video below on recommended upgrades.

Youtube Video: Recommended Upgrading the Springfield TRP ....

My TEST Firing of the Springfield Model 1911 TRP 45 ACP Handgun ....
I fired 10-Rounds at 35 Feet. Here is the Target at an Indoor Gun Range.
Targets, Ammo, and Handgun all furnished by Springfield.
My evaluation of the latest factory issued model was not good. I thought the hand grips were poorly designed. I also was not impressed with the shooting performance of the handgun. I think there are better handguns on the market that perform better.
The better choice for a Model 1911 would be a Colt.
Recommendation: Pass on this weapon, but if you all ready have one or are determined to purchase one make sure you do the upgrades shown in the video above.

I carried a Colt Model 1911A1 in Vietnam and really like it.

XDS 3.3 9mm ....

XDS 3.3 45acp ....

Answer:
Blog Administrator -
Your information is correct. This is a Fatal RECALL started in October 2013 and is now in full swing, see the Youtube Video below for full explanation and demonstration. If you own a Springfield Armory XD-S 3.3 Compact. This is for both the 9mm and the 45 ACP Calibers. These are under recall and are dangerous to either shoot to have loaded.

Springfield Armory has a RECAL Website, if you own this handgun, unload it immediately, and go to this website:
http://www.springfieldrecall.com

For further information you can contact Springfield Armory at their call center:

Youtube Video: Why are the Springfield Armory XDS Handguns Being Recalled ...

I recently had an opportunity to Test Fire the Springfield 9mm XDS Sub Compact Handgun. The Target is shown below. I shot 10-Rounds at 35 Feet.
I cannot honestly recommend this handgun. I thought it performed poorly as related to other firearms in its class. Also, I did not personally like the grip on firearm.

Answer:
Blog Administrator -
The M1 Garand 30-06 is the Big Brother to the M1 30 Caliber Carbine previously posted as a Topic here on the Firearms Forum site (Ask A Firearms Question) by the Firearms Guy.
The M1 Garand 30-06 is considered the weapon that won WWII (World War 2). It was a semi-automatic rifle based on the original design of the M1 Springfield bolt action rifle used in WW1 and just prior to WW2. The M1 Garand 30-06 was the American response to the German 8mm Mauser Rifle. This rifle was also used in the Korean War and at the beginning of the Vietnam War. Both the Army and Marines carried this rifle into combat.

Military History:
Manufacturers - Springfield Armory, Winchester, Harrington-Richardson, International Harvestor
Rifle Cartridge - 30.06 (7.62x63mm)
Weight = Range, 9.5 to 11.6 Lbs
Overall Length = 43.5 Inches
Barrel Length = 24 Inches
Action = Semi Automatic
Magazine - Internal, Stripper Clip Fed
Feed System = Gas Operated with 8-Round en bloc clip
First Production for Military Use = Early 1940
Total Production = Estimated Manufactured was 6.25 Million Rifles which was halted in the early 1980's
Standard Issue to all Army, Navy, and Marines in WW2 and Korea.
U.S. Conflicts = WW2, Korea, Early Vietnam.
Many other countries used this rifle for combat including the Israelis in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
The M1 Garand and M1 Carbine were both used at the start of the Vietnam War but were quickly replaced with the M14 (308, 7.62x51), and then by the M16 Assault Rifle (223).

The 30-06 is a large caliber high velocity round that can penetrate armored vest (see separate Topic on this Firearms Forum site: Body Armor Bullet Resistant Vest, What Works).
