Whats up with the Kimber Model 84M Bolt Action Rifle?
Thank you Ruddi James.

Answer :
Blog Administrator -
The Kimber 84M Bolt Action Rifle is under massive RECALL for a safety issue with the Bolt that could cause the rifle to discharge while in the safe mode.
Kimber refers to this as a malfunction, we consider this a serious safety issue and a bad design with poor quality management.
This is NOT Kimber's first Recall. They also had a Recall on their Solo Model Handgun, see Link below.

Kimber's Complete List of 84M Rifle Serial Numbers -
http://www.kimberamerica.com/serial-84m

If your firearm serial number is listed contact Kimber immediately.
Do NOT operate or use your Kimber 84M Bolt Action Rifle.
Kimber will repair the 84M Rifle free of charge.
If you are in the List of Serial Numbers affected, call Kimber at once for instructions at -
888 243 4522 M-F East Coast Time, USA
 - or -
Email: cs513@kimberamerica.com

The suggested retail price ranges from $1,223.00 to $2,240.00 for this Rifle. At those prices better care and a superior product should be guaranteed to their customers. Add to the fact two Hunting Calibers are missing in choice for the buyer: The 30-06 and the 300 Win Mag.
==> My recommendation on the Kimber Model 84M Bolt Action Rifle is -
a NO BUY.

Ask A Firearms Question:

As you can see WM Tactical contacted me on my Twitter Page through the Notifications section. Here is the post and reply:
Later the company, WM Tactical, renege on its promise to have their Iron Sights Tested by The Firearms Forum ....
I replied back as follows ....

Updated - Received email from WM Tactical, June 23, 2015, requesting email sender's name be removed for privacy reasons. In interest of fairness we are complying with that request.

Answer :
Blog Administrator -
So in lieu of having the sights, I am still offering a Review of the TUOR Iron Sights by WM Tactical.

There are several manufacturers that make after market AR Platform Iron Sights.
1) Magpul - MBUS Pro Front and Rear Sights
2) Diamondhead Polymer Diamond Integrated Sighting System
3) PRI Flip up Front and Rear Sights
4) WM Tactical Tuor Iron Sights

Commentary -
The suggested retail price is $299.00 for the WM Tactical TUOR Iron Sights. This product does NOT warrant spending that sum of money for adjustable iron sights. The price is highly inflated for what the shooter could obtain as a satisfactory investment upgrade.
==> My recommendation on the WM Tactical TUOR Sights is -
a NO BUY.

Competitor Cost Comparison:
1) Magpul - MBUS Pro Front and Rear Sights,
    Amazon has these for $140.00
2) Diamondhead Polymer Diamond Integrated Sighting
System, Amazon has these for $95.00
3) PRI Flip up Front and Rear Sights,
    Amazon has these for $115.00
4) I contacted one of my gunsmiths which does custom machine work for firearms. I can virtually duplicate the WM Tactical Tuor Iron Sights and have them mounted for $85.00.

Firearm Forum Question: Glock Issued Gen Model History

Ask A Firearms Question:
Can you detail the Glock Gen Model History, specifically when the Gen 2 and Gen 3 Started?
Thank you My-Left-Leg.

Answer :
Blog Administrator -
Glock has a unique history.
See below for details:
The firearm, mainly handguns are manufactured in Austria.
Glock wanted to stay consistent in its handgun production so improvements and upgrades were called 'Generations' - Gen.
There have been 4 Generations of Glock so far.
Gen 1; Gen 2; Gen 3; and the latest Gen 4.
Gen 3's were extremely popular worldwide and are used by various law enforcement and military.
Gen 1 Glocks are just now becoming somewhat of a collectors item.

I personally own a Gen 3, Model 30 (45 acp compact).

Glock Approximate Timeline Dates:
Gen 1 - 1982 Introduction
Gen 1 - 1984, Introduction to the USA Market
Gen 2 - 1988 Introduction
Gen 2 - 1991, Upgraded to meet ATF Standards
Gen 3 - 1998 Introduction
Gen 3 - Upgrades and New Models continued through 2008
Gen 4 - 2010 Introduction

Glock Generation Models: 1, 2, 3, 4 can be mostly distinguished by there Factory issued Pistol Grips.

Glock has issued a Timeline History.

There is a Voluntary RECALL Notice out on Glock Models 26 and 27, Gen 4.
This Recall Notice addresses a problem with the RSA (Recoil Spring Assembly).
This only affects Glock 26 and 27 Gen 4 models sold before July 22, 2011.

Firearm Forum Question: Review and Testing of the Henry Big Boy Mare's Leg Lever Action Pistol

Ask A Firearms Question:
No question today ...
This is my personal 'Review' of the Henry Repeating Arms Mare's Leg 45 LC (Long Colt) Lever Action Pistol.
This is essentially a cut down Big Boy Henry Lever Action Rifle.
This was made famous in the TV Show called 'Wanted Dead or Alive'
staring Steve McQueen:

Here are some photos of my Henry 45LC Mare's Leg with Holster:

Henry Mare's Leg Specifications ....

My Cowboy Scabbard I use when riding my horse carrying the Henry Mare's Leg 45LC Lever Action.
Note: This Scabbard can be used as an attachment to your saddle while riding a horse or on your motorcycle ....

Answer / Review:
Blog Administrator -
I purchased a Henry Mare's Leg 45 Long Colt Lever Action with Authentic Mare's Leg Holster sometime back.
Essentially It's more of a collector's piece.
I just took it to the gun range and fired my 45LC Mare's Leg for the first time, see target below.
It holds five 45 long colt rounds in the tube plus one in the chamber.

Note: Since this is cut down version of a lever action rifle it is sold as a handgun (pistol).

Henry offers this in 45 Long Colt; 44 Magnum; 357 Magnum; and 22 Caliber.
This is 100 percent American Made.

Comments about the Henry Mare's Leg:
Favorable -
1/ The firearm handles well and is accurate, no issues.
2/ Cowboy Shooters will love this firearm so will Steve mcQueen buffs.

The Downsides to the the Henry Mare's Leg are -
1) Using Brass is a bad idea, it scratches easily and is hard to maintain. Blued or Stainless Steel would be better choices.
2) It is too heavy.
3) The Henry Holster is poorly designed. I had to have a leather shop rework it before I could even use it. There are better after market holsters available now that were not available when I bought my Henry.
4) It has the same draw back that all Lever Action Rifles have, hard to clean and maintain. See Youtube Video below on Disassembly and Reassembly of The Henry Mare's Leg 45LC Handgun.
5) The Henry Mare's Leg has no half cock safety position on the hammer.

=> My Test and Review Rates this Firearm as a - BUY for Cowboy Shooters and Collectors but NOT for novice or target shooters.
=> I Rate the Henry Mare's Leg Holster as a - NO BUY. Get an after market.

The Target below shows me Test Firing my Henry 45LC Lever Action Mare's Leg Pistol at the Indoor Gun Range using Ultramax 45 Long Colt Cowboy 250 Grain, Round Nose, Flat Point Ammo.
This was my First Test Firing with 6-rounds (Five in the Tube, One in Chamber).

The Target below shows me Test Firing my Henry 45LC Lever Action Mare's Leg Pistol at the Outdoor Gun Range using Ultramax 45 Long Colt Cowboy 250 Grain, Round Nose, Flat Point Ammo.
This was my second Test Firing with 10-rounds (Five only in the Tube, reloading once).
Fired aiming the Mare's Leg at 75-Feet (25 yards) using a Target Size of 33h x 22w Inches....

Firearm Forum Question: Review and Testing of the Beretta Model-S, 22 Caliber Handgun

Ask A Firearms Question:
No question today ...
This is my personal 'Review' of Beretta Model-S, 22 Caliber Semi Auto Handgun.

I recently contacted Beretta about this handgun and was told they have no information, no specs, and no record for the serial numbers. The reason stated was this was made by Beretta in Italy before Beretta USA was established. The only thing Beretta could tell me was this Model-S was manufactured prior around 1973.

This was the preferred weapon for assignations by the Israeli MOSAD, The National Intelligence Agency of Israel (the equivalent of the CIA).

I had the barrel on my Model-S modified by Izor Armory to accept a suppressor. To do this the front sight had to be removed.
Here are photos of my handgun ...
The handgun came new with two magazines.

Answer / Review:
Blog Administrator -
Test Firing and Review of my Beretta Model-S, 22 Caliber Handgun after the Izor Armory Threaded Barrel modification.

Shooting was at 20, 25, 30, and 35 feet at an Indoor Gun Range using American Eagle Ammo, 22LR, High Velocity, 40 Grain, Solid - See Target Below ....
As you can see the handgun now set up for use with a suppressor and without a front sight to aim the handgun was accurate at 20-feet.

This handgun has been featured in many Movies, TV, Video, and Anime .....
